With the new firmware upgrade, white ink tube flushes are no longer mandatory maintenance. If you are still receiving the prompt to do white ink tube flushes, update your firmware so you are now doing the head cap tube washes. This article describes how to upgrade to the new maintenance process.
HOW TO FLUSH WHTE INK WITH CLEANING SOLUTION, AND PRINT WITH COLOR INK FOR IMMEDIATE USE
If you are expecting downtime longer than 10 days and you do not want to maintain white ink or you will be away from your printer, we suggest removing the white ink from and replacing with cleaning solution. You can still print with color ink and color ink can sit in your printer for 30 days or more.
Go to Maintenance > Replace white ink. The command will ask you to go from WH to CL hit yes then replace the white cartridges with cleaning cartridges.
Do not put CL cartridges in until the screen prompts you.
Once you execute Replace White Ink, the Epson DTG will prompt you to install cleaning solution. Once the flush of white ink and replacement with cleaning solution is complete, your printer will read “Ready”. You can now print jobs with color ink only.
When you are ready to print jobs with white ink again, simply follow the same process: Maintenance>Replace White Ink, and insert white ink back into the system.
Be sure you have at least 3/4 full 600ml white ink cartridges and 1/2 full cleaning solution. To purchase ink and cleaning solution go to shopmelco.com
